The Ultimate Story of KajaGooGoo [pt. 2] ,
Limahl :
well, Limahl is still very active in the music industry, working with many major artists including Peter Andre, Kim Wilde, Tony Di Bart and Worlds Apart. He recently hosted 80's revival events, is currently touring the U.K, the rest of Europe. and he's making numerous TV and radio appearances, in matter of fact he's appearing on a new television show in Germany on Pro7 called "Comeback - die große Chance"
the TV show website: www.prosieben.de/music/comeback/ , you can check the reviews, behind the scenes footage and watch the video streams from each weeks show incl. Limahl's ...
The concept of the show is similar to American/Pop Idol, but the contestants are celebs. of the past. A singer is voted off each week until they have a winner, who wins a chance to record a new album. (Others on the show include Coolio, Chris Norman [ex-Smokie], Benjamin Boyce [ex-Caught In the Act], The Weather Girls, Emilia, Haddaway etc...)
the Comeback Show airs every Monday at 8:15pm on Pro 7.
so far Limahl's been doin' great, Limahl is been receivin' good points on each show from the audiences poll,
and he's been movin' on forward every week. right now he's one of the last five contestants [8. Mar]
he performed in the past weeks, "Never Ending Story" as a re-introducing, and songs from Seal, Soulsisters, Elton John and and...
keep fingers crossed!!
KAJAGOOGOO REUNION?:
Every now and then there is some talk of a Kajagoogoo reunion. Nick has said that he has told "No" Limahl 3 times. At one point, in 1999, Nick Beggs reported, "It is my pleasure to inform you here and now that Kajagoogoo are attempting to reform with the original 5 member format. We are in conversations with our lawyers about how they can fleece us of what small amounts of money we have left in order to make even smaller amounts of money in the future." Unfortunatly, the talks broke down as the members squabbled about money. As Limahl reports, "There will probably NEVER be a Kajagoogoo reunion because after we met for the first time in fifteen years (a couple of months ago) we couldn't come to an agreement over the sordid but important subject of money.....my E mail exchanges with Monsieur "Beggs" were very heavy and I actually feel more animosity towards him/them now than I did back then." Don't hold your breath.
but never say never!!! through the VH-1 "Bands Reunited" show, a dream came finaly true ....
Oct. 2003, Kajagoogoo performed for the very 1st time in 20 years as the original line up [Nick Beggs (Bass), Limahl (Lead Vocals),
Steve Askew (Guitar), Stuart Neal (Keyboards) and Jez Strode (Drums)] at the Scala in London .["Too Shy", "Hang On Now" and "Never Ending Story"] ..
the TV airinig in Jan. 26th '04 in the US., was a huge success, and the demand from their fans is outrages...
the "Bands Reunited" show premiers end March in the UK.
Industrial Salt :
Industrial Salt, Nick Beggs and Steve Askew band project is developing stedily. The plan is to get it ready for showcasing to record companies some time in May 2004. The stuff sounds like a cross between Blondie and Garbage. [sounds exciting!!! ...]
as with completion of Nick's second chapman stick CD "The Maverick Helmsman", a new lable needs to be found for it's release. In the mean time you can place orders for an autographed copy on his Official Web site : www.nickbeggs.co.uk
due the huge response to the Bands Reunited on VH-1, Nick Beggs has officially now stated on his website [www.nickbeggs.co.uk] that they're planning an official Kajagoogoo reunion tour [w. Nick Beggs (Bass/Chapman Stick), Steve Askew (Guitar) and Stuart Neal (Keyboards)] in the Summer of 2004. WITHOUT LIMAHL (lead vocals)!!! & JEZ STRODE (drums)!!!
well good luck
