hi Kajamaniac's
here's the ultimate Info & lyrics on "Never Ending Story"!
"Neverending Story" (G.Moroder/K.Forsey)
Turn around, look at what you see.
In her face, the mirror of your dreams.
Make believe I'm everywhere, living in your eyes.
Written on the pages is the answer to a never ending story.
Never ending story.
Never ending story.
Never ending story
Reach the stars, fly a fantasy.
Dream a dream, and what you see will be.
Lives that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds
There upon the rainbow is the answer to a never ending story.
Story
Never ending story.
Never ending story.
Never ending story
Show your fear for she may fade away.
In your hands the birth of a new day.
Lives that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds
There upon the rainbow is the answer to a never ending story.
Never ending story.
Never ending story.
Never ending story.
"Never Ending Story" Release Info:
# 4 UK Charts [Oct.'84]
#17 US. Billboard Charts [Mar.'85]
Limahl's third single reached number 4 in the UK charts on November 20th 1984. It stayed in the charts for 14 weeks.
The title music for a very sucessful fantasy film, The NeverEnding Story was a hit in 17 countries, eight of which were Numbers Ones, the rest top five. Over four million copies were sold worldwide.
Composed and produced by Giorgio Moroder (one of the biggest Producer's in the industrie {to his credits: The Scarface (Al Pacino) Soundtrack, Donna Summer etc .....})with lyrics by K. Forsey, the vocals of Limahl & Beth Anderson were recorded separately on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
Limahl also recorded a version with French lyrics with Ann Calvert on accompanying vocals.
These lyrics were written by Pierre-André Dousset.
as for Limahl's pretty duet singer Mandy Newton,
Mandy didn't sing on anything. She was just geographically in the right place at the right time. She was hired by the director for the UK video "Only for love" and when Limahl needed a girl later on for TV shows, etc He gave her a call cause they got on quite well then.
Anyway most TV shows are not geared up for live vocals and work only with full playback (mime) so it didn't really matter if Mandy could sing or not.
As far as Beth's concern, She was hired as a session singer by the producer Giorgio Moroder and Limahl consequently didn't have much contact with her at all !! Limahl presumes EMI Records didn't want to use her in Europe (where the song was no'1 in every country) because it was probably too expensive to fly her all the way from Los Angeles.
